A very quick update this week which I'll update later...
This week I've worked on..
Making metalwork hardware and branding tags using aluminium etching process
Making toile for experimental removable metal sleeve straps and gauze sleeves.
(To be upcycled into the red statement bra set - had to compromise from making the whole mint coloured 'statement dress' as a time factor so having just the removable sleeves allows me to still have a toile from which to upcycle the undergarment fabric. )
Working on theory essay
Photographing final toiles - then starting in on the upcycling process and cutting apart final toiles to make secondary garments
Sewing final slip dress front and back panels and then painting them with photosensitive cyanotype and van dyke printing solutions - ready to sun print today hopefully!
Made a removable strappy thing to add to this slip dress or removable sleeves as a decorative affect
Printing out templates for sun printing

Aluminium is laid with acrylic paint as a ground, designs scratched into the paint to reveal metal, and then etched in copper sulphate acid. Then cut into shape using a drill and jewellery saw.

Photographing final toiles before upcycling process
To next be cut up and repurposed into secondary toiles - as I've identified the toiling process as the greatest creator of waste during the zero waste design process.
